I’ve decided to start a topic trend that features a few movie recommendations and findings that for some reason I chose not to review but still thought it was worth mentioning.
Here we go:
1. Coherence (2013)
Directed by: James Ward Byrkit
Storyline: On the night of an astronomical anomaly, eight friends at a dinner party experience a troubling chain of reality bending events. (from IMDB)
This is a very simple story that unravels in an interesting way. Cinematography particularities aside, it’s totally worth watching for the cast and the cool but sci fi aura among the cast – even though the ending is a bit shady.
2. Shallow Grave (1994)
This thriller is so fun – but incredibly dark. The ending didn’t even resembled the same movie as the beginning, even though it is a largely concise film. Ewan McGregor, my favorite, is greatly annoying in his character, and all cast members add beautifully to this twisted multilayered 90’s-hell-fest from Trainspotting‘s director Danny Boyle.
3. Silent House (2011)
Storyline: A girl is trapped inside her family’s lakeside retreat and becomes unable to contact the outside world as supernatural forces haunt the house with mysterious energy and consequences. (from IMDB)
I watched this movie at a friend’s house and it was truly terrifying. The story and outcome are mainly cliche, but it’s well made and worth a few scares. There’s a camera flash horror sequence which I particularly liked very much. The “inspired by true events” is actually very scary, but not in the paranormal way.
That’s it for now.
